So, while I'm in a posting mood
My current favourite drummers include these guys:
Raymond Herrera of Fear Factory.
Sure not the best thing to show off his drumming, but it's what I could find.
Danny Carey of Tool.
What's not to love?
Especially love the gong behind him
Igor Cavalera ex of Sepultura
DF - You may recognise what he's playing here - it's a sped up version of what I kept trying to play
Jose Pasillas of Incubus
[can't find a link of him drumming ]
and recently, I've started to get into a little bit of Neil Peart of Rush. Although, I think he takes drums into a completely different realm of instrument-ness...
Just a slight variation here and there in my tastes, I think _________________ Capt

i certainly agree with you about Carey and Pasillas, i'll have to check the other two out..
and Neil Peart is just incredible! especially for his age!!
he's over 50!! and to still be able to play like he does is verrryy impressive!

I think I can play it at that speed - been a while since I tried to play it
Also, he's using double bass drums in that version, which he doesn't do in the album version
And since my double bass drum technique is currently... lacking
[I hate not having anywhere to set up my kit. It's almost depressing ] _________________ Capt

the only one out of your list that i can agree with is Neil Peart, the LEGEND!!!
i checked out all of the links you posted, but i just peronally didn't find any of them very inspirational. I can see that you're a bit of a rocker, am i right? that isn't really my stlye, although i have been known to listen and enjoy some hard rock/metal.
must say however, that rythmn that Igor Cavelera plays in the video is pretty swish!! i'd be really impressed if you posted a video of you playing t in the near future.
finally, it must REALLY suck not being able to set up your kit. i've got to pack mine up tomo for a couple of days over Christmas

In general, I'd say it's their music on a whole that I try and get the inspiration from. It's often hard to just to say "it's that piece that inspires me most!"
But yes, I'm a "bit of a rocker" Very much so, actually
If I ever get a chance to put my kit up again, I shall try and play that piece [without the double bass drumming for now...] _________________ Capt
